The Northeast will kick off spring over the next few days with a deluge of heavy rain, winds and in some states, even snow.

Wednesday marked the first day of spring, but a nor’easter storm is in the forecast, expected to bring over an inch of rain, high winds and flurries to high-terrain areas.

The low pressure storm developed along the Carolina coast on Wednesday evening, dropping heavy rain in the area before spiraling upwards and intensifying near the Eastern Seaboard. It is expected by Thursday morning that the storm will move up the coast and slam the Mid-Atlantic and Washington, D.C. with heavy rain, also affecting New York City and Boston by evening before heading into New England on Friday bringing not just heavy rain but the potential for snow as well — affecting states from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
